Q&A with Jennifer Kirkhoff

Q: How did your career path lead you to Red Team?

A: A long time ago, post Arthur Andersen (Enron), I ended up at an organization that no longer exists, FedSources. I provided growth consulting services to a variety of government contractors, competitive analysis, deal research, capture support. That position led me from management consulting and project management to a variety of capture and business development roles. I had always hoped to move back into an advisory role, but thought I would have to wait until my son graduated from high school – I imagined a sole proprietorship. I’ve had a long relationship with Jeff Shen through ACT-IAC’s Voyagers program and I’ve been a long-time customer of Red Team Consulting over the years. When the opportunity came up to join Red Team, the stars aligned – the right position at the right time.

Q: As the GM of Capture, how do you envision your role shaping Red Team’s influence and contributions within the industry?

A: Different businesses will need our support at different points of the year, of their lifecycle, etc:

    1. If you need surge support because you simply have too many priority opportunities…
    2. If you lost a capture resource and you need coverage for your must win deals…
    3. If your capture team needs upskilling…
    4. If you’re trying to develop a growth culture across your organization…
    5. If you need a sounding board to discuss specific deals, captures or strategies…

Whatever it is, my goal is to become a trusted partner that you seamlessly go to when you have need to support your growth. In a time of great complexity, you need a neutral partner with a lot of experience who wants you to be successful. I think that Red Team is that partner.

Q: What is your spirit animal and why?

A: According to the Spirit animal quiz I took on my phone, my spirit animal is the elephant. The elephant provides wisdom and understanding and looks to be in service of the greater community. I think that’s an accurate representation.

Q: If you had to delete all but 3 apps on your smartphone, which ones would you keep?

A: 1. Waze – even though it often sends you through neighborhoods, it has saved me so many times! 2. Messages – I use text more than anything else, and 3. If camera and photos don’t count as an app, then I would say LinkedIn – where I keep up with everyone.

Thanks for sharing, Jennifer!
