Jeff Shen Hosts GMU Honors College GovCon Roundtable
ASHBURN, Va., November 14, 2024 – Jeff Shen, President of Red Team Consulting (Red Team), hosted the second George Mason University (GMU) Honors College GovCon Roundtable on Friday, November 8, in collaboration with the Greg and Camille Baroni Center for Government Contracting. The event brought together over 30 Honors College students and a distinguished panel of government contracting (GovCon) executives to discuss strategies for success in today’s federal market.
The roundtable was designed to offer students practical insights and mentorship from top industry leaders, reinforcing the importance of strengthening the federal contracting community in Northern Virginia. The GMU Honors College has been actively working to attract and retain talented and motivated students, with a mission to ensure their long-term engagement in the region. Unlike other Virginia universities, over 90% of Mason students choose to stay in Northern Virginia post-graduation, making their development crucial for the local and federal contracting sectors.
Jeff Shen expressed deep gratitude to the organizers and participants who contributed to the event’s success. “I want to give a huge thanks to Dean Zofia Burr and her entire team, including Zavin Smith and Richard Todd Stafford, for helping organize the day’s events. It’s an honor to serve on the GMU Honors College Advisory Board to help enrich the lives and futures of these students,” said Shen.
He also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the GovCon executives who participated and shared their expertise with the students. “To my GovCon friends, wow and thank you! I can’t say enough words of appreciation for your time and valuable feedback to these bright students,” Shen added. He gave special recognition to the following industry leaders for their contributions:
- Jay Shah
- Rahul Pandhi
- Aaron Moak
- Sunny Singh
- Baly Ambegaoker
- Brett McLaren
- Angela Drummond
- Raza S. Latif
- John Heneghan

Additional thanks were given to Charlie Dolgas from the Baroni Center, John Mongold for his unwavering support, and Trishana Bowden for her inspiring words of wisdom.
This event underscores the importance of community support in developing the next generation of leaders in government contracting. Contributions to the GMU Honors College are greatly appreciated and ensure continued opportunities for student growth and engagement in this vital field.
