We thought it would be fun to learn a little more about Debi. Here’s what she had to say!
1. Tell us a little bit about your background. How did you get started working in proposals?
I started as a government consultant in an environmental policy start up firm many years ago. We were small and each employee wore many hats – because of my background in journalism, I gravitated to writing proposals and loved it. Have been working in business development, capture, and proposals in some capacity or another ever since.
2. What are you most looking forward to in your new position as General Manager of Capture at Red Team?
I’m looking forward to helping clients grow their businesses through shaping the opportunities they pursue. I like working with a variety of companies in different industries to help guide and share what I know to support their success.
3. In the past 5 years, what’s the most important thing you’ve learned?
The most important thing I’ve learned in the past five years is to pay attention to my personal internal cues about my desires and limits. This brought me into independent consulting and it’s the best thing I’ve done in the past five years.
4. What are your interests outside of work?
My interests include travel – anywhere in the world, food – learning to cook new recipes and trying new restaurants – the travel and food interests often coincide. I love to read science fiction and fantasy novels. And like to spend time with my husband and boys (Josh, age 25 – living in Manhattan and Ben, age 29 – living in NoVa).
5. What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
Ahhh, a perfect day would be exploring a new city (that I’ve never been to before) with my husband, stopping at a coffee shop in the afternoon – drinking coffee and people watching. Continuing to wander around – find a fantastic restaurant – have a fabulous meal with awesome cocktails and delicious wine. And continue the night with barhopping until we’re exhausted!
