An important tip for a winning proposal is applying cognitive consistency to a client’s competitive landscape, articulating key story points that balance experience, cost efficiency, and innovation.
Biggest proposal pet peeve?
My biggest proposal pet peeve is when simply “answering the mail” sets blinders upon the proposal team and typically ignores the competitive threat of potential outside entrants and their capabilities.
Where was your last vacation and what was the highlight of the trip?
My last vacation to OBX was highlighted by helping my two young sons conquer the sandy peak of Jockey Ridge and seeing their marvel at the Mars-like landscape around them.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Not many, however I was quite the photographer at a young age, winning achievement awards at the state level and subsequently had the opportunity to represent Virginia at the national level.
If you could meet anyone in the world (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
It would probably be Marie Curie, who was the first person to win two Nobel prizes (Physics and Chemistry). I admire her accomplishments, especially given her field and when she did it, along with her integrity and focus on achievement.
