Meet the Presenter: Jeff Leitner

Jeff Leitner headshotJeff Leitner is Senior Consultant and Western Region lead for Red Team Consulting. He provides capture, proposal, and BD strategy support to Red Team’s clients. He has worked in proposals, capture, and BD for over 30 years across the public sector. His first proposal experience was as an author on a $1B bid to the FAA in 1988. After proposal submission he hit his head on a rock, which clouded his judgment, resulting in a career in proposals.

Proposal Development Training Overview

Creating a compliant and compelling proposal to the federal government can be a daunting task. If your experience has included long hours, a gazillion iterations of an executive summary, an extensive argument on what the word “capable” means, and one too many slices of pizza after 11pm, know that you are not alone! We’ve been there too. With the vast number of requirements and often-compressed timeframes, it is easy to get lost in the process. We’ve developed a streamlined, customizable proposal management approach that takes these factors into account and leaves you going to bed at a reasonable hour knowing that you have a compliant and compelling proposal in place.

Objective & Audience

In our proposal development training, we will guide you through our methodology and provide real life tools that can be effectively used to create winning proposals. Whether you are new to proposals or someone who has managed, coordinated, written, or reviewed many federal proposals, this training is for you.

Course Description

This one-day proposal development training offers an in-depth look at Red Team’s proposal development approach, which was designed specifically for the federal government’s Request For Proposal (RFP) process. The training incorporates both lecture and exercise-oriented training to highlight the critical aspects of the proposal process and offers techniques to avoid the common proposal pitfalls. You will learn:

  • What pre-RFP work is needed to prepare for a winning proposal process
  • How to navigate a federal RFP
  • How to build and use efficient proposal tools to aid your process and keep you on schedule
  • The difference between strengths and differentiators
  • How to write compliant, compelling, winning proposal content
  • The ins-and-outs of color reviews

At the end of this training, you will have a deeper understanding of best practices in the proposal development process and will be armed with a set of customizable tools that you can use on your next federal proposal.
